A band change applies from your next billing period, never retroactively, and never from a single day's spike. Settings → Billing shows your live count, your period percentile, and how far you are from the next band.

The ones worth answering up front
Why does the price go up with headcount?
Because that is what our own cost tracks, and what the work tracks. Keeping 20,000 people in the right groups is a bigger job than keeping 200 — more org units, more connectors, more edge cases. Charging both the same meant one of them was paying for the other. Nothing about the product changes down the table.
Is this a per-seat charge?
No. You are never charged per operator, per connector, or per feature — those stay unlimited and included at every size. The band is set by how many people your IdP syncs to Camper, and it moves in steps, not per head.
What exactly is an action?
A write Camper makes to a connected system: adding or removing a member, creating, renaming or archiving a managed resource. Reads, reconcile passes, drift detection and dry runs are not actions — you are never billed for Camper checking its own work.
What if we hire and cross a band?
Your band comes from the 95th percentile of your daily identity count, so one bad sync or a bulk import never moves it — and crossing a ceiling by 3% or less does not move it either. Changes apply from the next billing period, never retroactively, and Settings → Billing shows your count and the distance to the next band every day.
What does the free trial actually include?
Everything, with one limit that matters. Dry runs are unlimited — connect every provider and see your whole plan, including the full blast radius of a first convergence. Writes to connected systems are capped at 250 credits, and during a trial that cap includes onboarding import. The trial is there to show you Camper is right about your org; converging a whole directory is the work you are paying for. Nothing you have already written is undone at the cap, and a plan picks up exactly where the trial stopped.
Why only one plan?
Tiering exists to make small customers subsidise a sales motion. Camper does not have one. Every feature ships to every customer on day one, which also means there is no internal argument about which tier a new capability belongs in.
Does single sign-on cost extra?
No. SSO is a security control, and charging for security controls is how organisations end up without them. SAML and OIDC are included at every band.
What happens during a reorg?
A large restructure produces a spike of actions in one month. Dry run shows you the size of the plan before you approve it, so the bill is never a surprise arriving after the fact. Prepaid action packs are available when you know a restructure is coming.
What does the initial import cost?
Nothing, once you are on a plan. Bringing existing resources to desired state is not billed — you should not pay by the action to fix the mess you are arriving with. The one exception is the free trial, where import writes come out of the 250 trial credits, because an unlimited free import is a whole directory converged for nothing.
