Camper support access
Sometimes resolving a ticket means someone at Camper needs to look at your workspace. That access is not standing, and it is not invisible.
What support access is
A time-boxed grant that lets one named Camper staff member access your workspace for a fixed window. Every grant carries:
| Property | Detail |
|---|---|
| A named person | A specific Camper staff account, not a shared “support” login |
| A role | Usually viewer (read-only). Higher only when a change is what you asked for |
| An expiry | Hours, not days — and never more than 24 |
| A reason | The ticket or incident it was opened for |
Grants are separate from your team. Camper staff never appear in team settings and are never counted as operators. Nothing about a support grant changes your billing, your directory, or your access rules.
How long it lasts
Access ends when the window expires — nobody has to remember to close it. It can also be revoked earlier, either by Camper or at your request, and revocation takes effect on the staff member’s next page load.
Where you can see it
Support access is written to your own audit trail. In Activity, look for:
| Event | Meaning |
|---|---|
support.grant.created | Access was opened — role, expiry, and reason on the event |
support.grant.revoked | Access was closed early |
support.grant.expired | The window ran out |
While a grant is live, the staff member’s view of your workspace is marked with a support badge in the top bar.
Changes Camper support can make
Two support actions change how your workspace behaves. Both write to Activity with the reason:
| Event | What happened |
|---|---|
billing.writes.paused / billing.writes.resumed | Provisioning writes were stopped or restarted — usually to contain a runaway sync. Dry run, reconcile, SCIM, and audit keep working |
billing.trial.extended | Your trial end date was moved out |
If you see a pause you did not ask for, the reason on the event says why.
What support cannot do
Camper support tooling cannot read your credentials. Connection secrets, OAuth tokens, and SCIM bearer tokens are sealed with your workspace’s own key and are never shown to staff — support sees that a connection exists and whether it is healthy, not what is inside it. Support also cannot delete your workspace, change who your operators are, or mint a SCIM token for you.
Asking for it, or declining it
You do not need to enable support access, and there is nothing to turn on. If you would rather Camper did not open a grant for a given ticket, say so on the ticket — most issues can be worked from logs and your description alone.
