Referrals
If Camper works for you, the people most likely to want it are the ones you already talk to — the identity leads, corp eng managers, and IT admins you know from a previous job, a community Slack, or a conference hallway.
Open the account menu (your initials, top right) and choose Referrals. The link is yours, not your workspace's: it follows your account, and what it earns belongs to you.
What you earn
The point of this program is standing in the product. Each step is permanent once you reach it.
| Step | When | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Roadmap weight | The team you referred signs up, connects an IdP over SCIM, and runs a dry run | Your connector requests carry priority weight for 12 months. When we choose what to build next, requests from people who brought us here are counted first |
| Early access | That workspace moves onto a paid plan and its first invoice is paid | A standing quarterly roadmap call with the founders, and new connectors before general release |
| Design partner | That workspace is still on an active plan 90 days later | A private channel with the team, and a named credit in the changelog if you want one |
Recognition is never capped, and never depends on accepting anything material.
What the team you refer gets
A 45-day trial instead of the standard 21.
Everything else about the trial is unchanged, including the 250-credit cap on writes to connected systems. Dry runs stay unlimited — see Pricing & usage.
Rewards
There is also a material reward at each step: $35 at the first, $250 at each of the other two.
You choose from a short menu when a step is reached:
- Security hardware — hardware security keys, shipped where you want them
- Certification — we buy the exam voucher
- Conference registration — we pay the registration directly
- Homelab kit — you pick the parts, we order them
- A donation, uplifted 20% — made in your name to a nonprofit you choose
- Decline — take the recognition and nothing else
We never send cash, gift cards, or crypto. Every option is something we buy on your behalf, and we confirm by email before ordering anything.
If your employer restricts gifts
Plenty of IT and security teams have a gift policy, and plenty of them cap at less than $250. That is normal and we have designed for it rather than around it.
Under Referrals → Preferences you can:
- Declare your gift limit. We keep the personal part of any reward at or under it, and donate the remainder in your name rather than dropping it. A $100 limit on a $250 reward means $100 of hardware to you and $150 donated.
- Turn material rewards off entirely. Nothing is offered, so nothing has to be declined. You keep every step of the ladder above.
If you are not sure what your policy says, ask before you share — not after a reward is on its way.
Sharing the link
Your link looks like getcamper.io/r/XXXXXXXXXX. The code can also be typed by hand on the signup form, which is the path to use if you are sending it in a chat message rather than as a clickable link, or if the person you are sending it to blocks cookies.
Posting publicly needs a disclosure. If you put the link on LinkedIn, a blog, or a community forum, US rules require you to say you may receive something for it. Sending it to someone directly does not. We give you the disclosure line to copy on the referrals page.
We never tell the team you referred that you received a reward.
Your name
By default the page they land on says someone shared Camper, without naming you. Turn on Show my name if you would rather it said who.
What counts, and what does not
A referral earns you something when it is a team outside your own company evaluating Camper for real. Specifically, these do not count:
| Not counted | Why |
|---|---|
| Your own company, or another workspace at the same email domain | It is not a referral |
| A workspace that shares an owner with one of yours | Same reason |
| A company that was already talking to us before your link was opened | The conversation was already happening |
| A signup more than 90 days after your link was opened | The trail has gone cold |
You will see any of these on your own referrals page, with the reason — nothing disappears quietly.
You can see the company domain of everyone who used your link. You never see anyone's name or email address.
Limits
- 10 rewarded conversions per year. Past that, this should be a partner arrangement rather than a referral link, and we will get in touch to set one up.
- Three first-step rewards per year.
- Referrals can only be made from a workspace on a paid plan.
- If US tax rules mean we need a W-9 from you, we will ask by email before the reward that crosses the threshold. Nothing is lost in the meantime.
We may pause new rewards if the program reaches its annual budget. If that happens, anything you have already earned is still honored, referrals keep being tracked, and the page says so.
Questions
Email support@getcamper.io. If a referral looks wrong on your page, tell us — we would rather fix it than have you assume it was deliberate.
